SPAR Scotland opens new store in Castletown

CJ Lang & Son Ltd, the wholesaler for SPAR in Scotland, is opening a new company owned store in the village of Castletown, in the Highlands on 7th June.

The licensed convenience store will be located where the Morrison's Daily store once traded on the Main Street. This store was previously an independent SPAR store, and it's great to be returning to trade in the village.

The 1,342sqft store will retain all eleven staff members as well as offering a wide range of daily essential food and drink products and services to the local community of Castletown.

Owned by leading Scottish independent wholesaler and convenience store owner, CJ Lang & Son Ltd, the 104-year-old family business is passionate about providing great service to communities around the country.

Based in Dundee, the Scottish business today supplies over 300 SPAR stores across Scotland daily.

The store has been refitted internally and externally with the latest SPAR designs. A new floor, counter area, ceiling and shelving have all been added. Also new is the famous CJ's branded food-to-go area which will provide shoppers with a range of hot and cold food to go treats. A Costa Coffee machine and a Calippo Slush machine are also available. 

Brand new eco-friendly refrigeration has been added throughout the store to offer shoppers a more comprehensive range of chilled products.

The store also has a great off license section, a range of news and magazines, grocery, chilled and fresh food products. Services provided include the Lottery, Post Office, Paypoint, and an ATM.

Enthusiastic about supporting local communities, on the opening day, SPAR Castletown gave a donation of £500 to a local group - Castletown Youth Club.

CJ Lang has implemented a significant refurbishment programme across its company owned store estate with many stores the length and breadth of the country already benefitting from work undertaken. These include Gatehouse of Fleet, Balmacara, Spean Bridge, Crosshouse and Hillfoot. SPAR Castletown is the latest addition to the CJ Lang's company owned store portfolio. The store development programme will continue at pace over the next 12 months with record-breaking monies being reinvested into the business.

SPAR Castletown is located at Main Street, Castletown. The store employs eleven local people and will be open from 7am - 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 8am - 10pm Sunday.
